Periodontal Disease

Periodontal means having to do with the gums and other tissues around the teeth. Periodontal disease is a silent, chronic, bacterial infection of the gums that leads to loss of bone around the teeth. The end result is irregular bone tissue and deep pockets that prevent the proper removal of plaque. Gum disease, left unchecked, may result in the loss of teeth and may affect your systemic health, as well.
