Overzealous tooth brushing, thin gums and prominent muscle attachments (frenums) may lead to gum recession. Gum recession is where the gum line has pulled away from the tooth and shows the root surface(s). With gum grafting and frenulectomies (removal of frenums), coverage of root(s) may be achieved, restoring gum lines and contours, as well as reducing sensitivity.
